Book launch: Together We Can
September 11, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
As part of the Festival of Resilience kick-off event Regenerate – join Claire O’Rouke in conversation as she launches her book Together We Can. Claire will be in joined by Lis Bastian of the Blue Mountains Planetary Health Initiative and Allen Hyde of the Mount Irvine Rainforest Conservancy.
Together We Can, by Australian author Claire O’Rourke, launches in Katoomba at Regenerate on Sunday, September 11, 2pm at the Carrington Hotel, a headline event at the inaugural Festival of Resilience.
About the book: Together We Can
Recent research Claire commissioned found 24% of Australians aged over 16, almost 5 million people, are ‘alarmed’ about global warming. Public concern about climate change escalated in Australia in 2022, with record-breaking weather events, including unprecedented flooding in several areas. The Black Summer Fires of 2019-2020 are etched in our memories forever. Scientists have confirmed these severe weather events are a sign that climate change is here now.
It’s understandable that millions of people across Australia are feeling anxious about the uncertain future on our doorstep. Together We Can tells stories of Australians taking climate action in their local communities, transforming the country from the ground up, including in the Blue Mountains.
About the author: Claire O’Rourke
Claire is one of Australia’s most experienced advocates on environmental and social issues, and she knows people want to make a meaningful difference on climate change but don’t know where to start. She has been asked what should be done countless times by friends and people at parties and BBQs after she tells them what she does for work.
