Walanmarra Artists: Homelessness in the Blue Mountains

September 25, 2022 @ 11:15 am - 12:15 pm

Kerrie Miller with the Walanmarra artists stall at NAIDOC

Short film and speakers – with some of the Walanmarra Artists and Sue Wildman.

The Walanmarra Artists are a group of Aboriginal women based in the Blue Mountains who create hand painted scarves, cushion covers and eco-dyed clothing.

The women take pride in their work and also conduct workshops for Aboriginal women in different regions – connecting and creating together. Walanmarra means “growing stronger”.

Art therapist Sue Wildman and women from the Walanmarra Artists’ Group have made a moving short film to draw attention to the impacts the current housing shortage is having on the local community.

The Walanmarra artists will have some of their artwork for sale on the Sunday at ReIMAGINE.

This FREE event is part of ReIMAGINE – a headline Festival of Resilience event. For more information or to RSVP click here.
